Diving Policies & Booking Terms
Understanding our diving policy: Cancellation terms, safety requirements, and booking procedures for a seamless underwater experience in the UAE.
Diving with Confidence: Our Commitment to You
At Diver’s Wave, we believe that a world-class diving experience is built on a foundation of safety, transparency, and mutual respect. Our diving policies are more than just rules; they are a commitment to international PADI standards and strict adherence to UAE Maritime Law. By establishing clear guidelines—from mandatory identification for Coast Guard clearance to our ‘safety-first’ on-board protocols—we ensure that every guest can relax and focus on the beauty of the ocean, knowing that every detail of their journey has been professionally planned and protected.
Exploring the underwater wonders of the UAE is a privilege we cherish. To protect our divers and the delicate marine ecosystems we visit, Diver’s Wave operates under a comprehensive set of diving policies. These standards ensure that every buddy team is well-matched, every vessel departure is legally compliant, and every interaction with the reef is sustainable. Understanding our policies is the first step in your adventure, ensuring a seamless transition from the dock to the depths.
Epic Splashes to Underwater Magic
We are so excited to have you on board! At Diver’s Wave, we’re all about creating those “wow” moments beneath the surface. To make sure our day on the water is smooth, safe, and stress-free, here’s a quick guide on how we work together.
1. Booking & Cancellation Policy
We understand that plans can change. To keep our boat schedules fair for everyone:
-
Cancellations 48+ Hours Before: Full refund or free rescheduling.
-
Cancellations 24–48 Hours Before: 50% cancellation fee.
-
Last Minute (<24 Hours) or No-Show: 100% fee applies.
-
Weather Cancellations: If the Coast Guard or our Captain cancels the trip due to sea conditions, you receive a full refund or a priority reschedule.
What if I’m late? The boat departs promptly at the scheduled time. Please arrive 30 minutes early for gear fitting.
2. Safety & Certification Requirements
-
Verification: All divers must present a valid certification card (PADI, SSI, CMAS, etc.) and a logged dive within the last 12 months.
-
Refresher Dives: If you haven’t dived in over a year, a Scuba Review is required for your safety and the safety of the group.
-
Health: A standard Diver Medical Participant Questionnaire must be completed before your first dive.
3. Environmental Responsibility (The “Green” Policy)
To protect our beautiful East Coast reefs:
-
Zero Tolerance for Touching: Touching, feeding, or harassing marine life is strictly prohibited.
-
Gloves: In accordance with local conservation efforts, gloves are not permitted unless for specific technical or wreckage tasks.
-
Sunscreen: We highly encourage the use of Reef-Safe sunscreen to protect our coral ecosystems.
4. Equipment & Rental Policy
-
Rental gear is checked by our staff before and after every trip.
-
Divers are responsible for the gear issued to them. Any loss or significant damage due to negligence will be subject to a replacement fee at shop retail prices.
5. The “Flying After Diving” & Transportation Policy
In the UAE, many divers drive from Dubai or Abu Dhabi to Khor Fakkan/Fujairah.
-
The Policy: Remind divers of the PADI/DAN recommendation: A minimum of 18 to 24 hours between their last dive and flying (or driving to high altitudes, like Jebel Jais).
-
Flight: As We want your journey home to be as smooth as your dive! Per PADI RDP safety standards, please ensure you have a minimum of 18-24 hours of surface time before flying on a plane.
Keep the magic alive on your flight home! We strictly follow PADI RDP safety rules, so please plan for a 24-hour surface interval before heading to the airport.”
6. Diver’s Insurance Requirement
Diving is safe, but being prepared is professional.
-
The Policy: Strongly recommend (or require) DAN (Divers Alert Network) or equivalent insurance. State clearly that the diver’s personal travel insurance may not cover “extreme sports” like scuba.
-
“We want you protected. If you don’t have insurance, we offer short-term ‘Daily Dive Insurance’ for a small fee.”
7. The “Seasickness & Personal Comfort” Clause
-
The Policy: State that refunds are not provided for seasickness or the inability to equalize if the boat has already departed.
-
Pro-Tip Advice: “We recommend taking motion sickness medication at least 1 hour before departure. Please consult a pharmacist first.”
8. Equipment Storage & Personal Property
-
The Policy: While we provide a secure area for gear, [Dive with Rasha] is not responsible for the loss or damage of high-value personal items (phones, luxury watches, cameras) left on the boat or in the shop.
-
Pro-Advise: This protects you legally and reminds divers to use a “Dry Bag” for their electronics.
9. The “Equalization & Skill” Policy
Sometimes divers struggle to equalize or feel anxious and decide not to dive once they are in the water.
-
The “Support” Angle: “Our instructors are highly trained to help you with equalization techniques. If you’re feeling nervous, let us know before the briefing so we can give you extra attention.”
10. Camera & Drone Policy
In 2026, everyone is a content creator. You need rules to protect your guests’ privacy and safety.
-
The Policy: * Drones: Flying drones from the boat is only permitted with the Captain’s prior approval (due to safety and local UAE regulations).
-
Cameras: Divers must have at least 15 logged dives before carrying a camera. This ensures your buoyancy is stable enough to protect the reef while filming.
-
12. Student Responsibility Policy (PADI eLearning)
For students taking courses, the biggest delay is unfinished “homework.”
-
The Policy: All eLearning or theory must be 100% complete before the first day of in-water training.
-
The Consequence: If the theory isn’t done, the session may be rescheduled at a “Re-booking Fee” to cover the instructor’s time.
13. “Buddy System” & Solo Diving Policy
-
The Policy: No diver enters the water alone. If you arrive without a buddy, we will pair you with a suitable partner or one of our professional guides.
-
The Exception: Only certified PADI Self-Reliant Divers with the required redundant equipment and a pre-approved dive plan may dive solo.
Diver Verification & Safety Protocol
H2: The Foundation of a Safe Dive: Verification & Planning
To ensure your journey to happiness is safe and seamless, we’ve outlined our professional standards below. These policies—ranging from UAE Coast Guard compliance to PADI safety protocols—are the guardrails that allow us to provide you with the ultimate underwater experience. We don’t just dive; we plan. This process allows us to create the perfect Dive Plan and pair you with a compatible Buddy System based on experience levels.
1. Mandatory Proof of Certification
-
“No Card, No Dive”: Every diver must present a valid physical or digital certification card (PADI, SSI, NAUI, CMAS, etc.) upon arrival.
-
Verification: If you have lost your card, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance. We can attempt to verify PADI or SSI divers online; however, if we cannot verify your status, you will be restricted to a “Discover Scuba” experience or denied boarding without a refund.
2. Logbook & Dive History Requirements
Your logbook is the “CV” of your diving career. We require proof of your dive history to ensure you are matched with the right dive site and group.
-
Recent Experience: Divers must show their logbook (digital or paper) to verify their total number of dives and the date of their Last Dive.
-
The “12-Month Rule”: If you have not dived within the last 12 months, a Scuba Refresher/Reactivate session is mandatory before joining our guided boat trips. This ensures your skills and buoyancy are sharp, protecting both you and the coral reef.
3. Personalized Dive Planning & Buddy Matching
We use your certification level and dive count to:
-
Assign the Best Buddy: We pair divers of similar experience levels together to ensure no one feels rushed or held back.
-
Site Selection: Some sites (like deep wrecks) require a minimum of 30+ dives or Advanced certification. By providing your data early, we can ensure the boat goes to a site that fits your skill set.
-
Tailored Briefings: Our guides use your history to adjust their safety briefings, focusing on specific skills or environmental conditions you may not have encountered recently.
At Diver’s Wave, we love technology! We accept PADI App logs, MySSI, or any 3rd party digital logbook. Show it to us on your phone during check-in to save time.”
ATTENTION DIVERS: > Please email a photo of your Certification Card and your Last Logged Dive to us as soon as your booking is confirmed. This allows our Instructors to pre-plan the teams and oxygen requirements, giving you more time to relax and enjoy the boat!
This is the “Safety Triangle” of dive shop management. To make this feel like a professional service rather than “boring paperwork,” you should frame it as The Dive Readiness Protocol.
Here is the professional content for your website and booking confirmation to ensure you get your forms, liability releases, and documents back on time.
Dive Readiness: Required Documentation
H2: Your Safety is Our Standard
To ensure every adventure at Dive with Rasha is conducted to the highest international safety standards, all divers are required to complete our digital “Readiness Pack” prior to arrival.
1. The Registration Form
This is where we get to know you. We require your contact details, emergency contact info, and any specific requirements you may have.
-
Why it matters: This allows us to personalize your experience and ensures we can reach your loved ones in the unlikely event of an emergency.
2. Liability Release & Assumption of Risk
Diving is an adventurous sport. Our liability release is a standard industry document that outlines the inherent risks of diving and confirms that you are a willing participant.
-
The “Payment as Signature” Reminder: As per our shop policy, your payment constitutes a digital agreement to these terms. However, a signed copy (digital or physical) is still required for our insurance and PADI records.
3. Diver Medical Statement
All divers must complete the RSTC Medical Statement.
-
Important: If you answer “YES” to any of the initial health questions, you must provide a signed clearance from a physician before you can enter the water. Please review this form at least 7 days before your trip to avoid disappointment.
4. Mandatory Documentation
Before we can clear you for the boat, we require copies of:
-
Certification Card: (PADI, SSI, etc.) Front and back or digital screenshot.
-
Logbook Proof: A photo of your most recent dive to verify your experience level.
-
ID/Passport Copy: Required for Coast Guard manifests in certain UAE dive locations.
Legal Compliance & Border Control Policy
H2: UAE Coast Guard & Legal Requirements
In accordance with PADI International Standards and the United Arab Emirates Federal Laws, Dive with Rasha maintains a strict “Zero-Exception” policy regarding identification. To clear the harbor and receive Coast Guard departure permission, every person on board must be documented.
1. Mandatory Identification for Departure
Per UAE Coast Guard regulations, you must present the following original documents before boarding the vessel:
-
UAE Residents: You must carry your Original Emirates ID. (Digital versions on the UAE PASS app are generally accepted, but having the physical card is highly recommended to avoid technical delays).
-
Tourists & Visitors: You must carry your Original Physical Passport.
IMPORTANT: Photocopies or phone photos of these documents are not accepted by the Coast Guard authorities. Failure to provide the original document will result in being denied boarding by the authorities.
2. Manifest & Harbour Clearance
-
Your details (Name and ID number) are submitted to the Harbour Master and Coast Guard manifest prior to departure.
-
By booking with us, you authorize Dive with Rasha to share these details with the relevant UAE authorities for the sole purpose of trip clearance and maritime safety.
3. No-Refund Policy for Missing ID
Please understand that the Coast Guard’s decisions are final.
-
If a diver is denied boarding because they forgot their Original Emirates ID or Passport, it is considered a “Last Minute Cancellation.”
-
In this event, the trip fee is non-refundable, as the seat on the boat was reserved and the operational costs have already been incurred.
Maritime Safety & Coast Guard Compliance
H2: The Captain’s Authority & Safety Protocol
At Dive with Rasha, your safety is our absolute priority. Our operations are governed by the UAE Coast Guard and Maritime Authority regulations. When you are on board our vessel, the Boat Captain has full legal authority. Following their instructions is not just a shop rule—it is a federal requirement.
1. Use of Safety Jackets (Life Jackets)
-
The Law: Per local maritime law, all passengers must wear life jackets during transit (while the boat is moving) or whenever instructed by the Captain.
-
Why it matters: In the event of an unexpected wave or sudden stop, a life jacket is the primary tool for saving lives.
2. Remaining Seated During Transit
-
The Law: Divers must remain seated in the designated areas while the vessel is in motion. Standing, walking on the deck, or sitting on the gunwales (edges) of the boat while the engines are engaged is strictly prohibited.
-
The Risk: Sudden maneuvers or sea swells can cause falls, leading to serious injury or “Man Overboard” situations.
3. Liability for Fines & Penalties
The UAE authorities conduct active surveillance of dive boats.
-
The Policy: Any fine issued by the Coast Guard or Maritime Authority due to a diver’s refusal to follow safety instructions (such as taking off a life jacket or standing while moving) will be the sole financial responsibility of the diver.
-
The Crew’s Role: Our cabin crew and Captain will provide clear instructions. If a diver ignores these warnings and a fine is issued to the vessel, the diver must settle the fine amount in full.
-
Indemnity: By boarding the vessel, you agree to indemnify Diver’s Wave and its crew against any penalties incurred by your non-compliance with local maritime laws.
“Our Coast Guard is very strict because they care about your safety. To keep us all out of trouble and ensure nobody gets an expensive fine, please keep your life jackets clipped and stay seated until the engines are off. Let’s keep the money for your next dive trip instead of giving it to the authorities!”
ATTENTION: > * LIFE JACKETS: Must be worn at all times while the boat is moving.
-
SEATING: Stay seated until the Captain gives the “All Clear.”
-
FINES: Personal non-compliance leads to personal fines (payable by the diver).
1. The “Dive Site Selection” Policy
Divers often book because they want to see a specific wreck or reef, but the sea doesn’t always cooperate.
-
The Policy: “While we strive to visit requested dive sites, the final decision rests solely with the Boat Captain. Site selection is based on daily weather, current, visibility, and the safety of the divers. No refunds will be issued if a specific site is changed for safety reasons.”
-
Why: This prevents disputes if you have to move from a deep wreck to a sheltered bay due to high winds.
2. Substance & Alcohol Policy (Zero Tolerance)
This is a critical safety and legal point in the UAE.
-
The Policy: “The consumption of alcohol or any illegal substances before or during a diving trip is strictly prohibited. Any diver showing signs of intoxication or a ‘hangover’ that impairs judgment will be denied boarding without a refund.”
-
The Legal Side: “Being under the influence during a maritime activity is a serious offense under UAE law and can lead to immediate arrest and heavy fines.”
3. The “Late Arrival” Grace Period
In the UAE, traffic can be unpredictable, but the boat must leave on time for the Coast Guard manifest.
-
The Policy: “The boat departs at the exact time stated in your booking. We allow a maximum 15-minute grace period for late arrivals. After this, the boat will depart to respect the schedule of our other guests. Late arrivals are considered ‘No-Shows’ and are non-refundable.”
4. Personal Equipment “Fitness for Use”
If a diver brings their own gear, you need to ensure it doesn’t break and ruin the trip.
-
The Policy: “Divers using their own equipment are responsible for its maintenance and function. Dive with Rasha reserves the right to refuse the use of equipment that appears unsafe or lacks proof of recent service (especially regulators and BCDs). If your gear fails on the boat, rental gear will be provided at the standard daily rate.”
-
-
Rental Gear: Divers are responsible for gear issued to them. Loss or damage due to negligence will be charged at retail replacement value.
-
Personal Gear: We are not responsible for the failure of personal equipment or the loss of high-value items (cameras, phones) on the vessel.
-
5. “Social Media & Privacy” Clause
-
The Policy: “We love capturing your underwater moments! By diving with us, you consent to Dive with Rasha using photos or videos taken during the trip for promotional purposes. If you prefer not to be featured, please inform our staff during the morning briefing.”
-
SEO Tip: This helps protect your right to use “User Generated Content” which is great for your Instagram and SEO.
6. Marine Life Interaction (The “Respect” Policy)
-
The Policy: “We are guests in the ocean. Any diver caught touching, riding, or intentionally disturbing marine life (including coral) will be asked to exit the water and may be banned from future trips with no refund. Take only pictures, leave only bubbles.“
Understanding E-Gift Card Validity
E-gift cards have become a popular choice for gifting due to their convenience and flexibility. However, it’s important to understand the terms and conditions associated with their use, particularly the validity period.
What is an E-Gift Card?
An e-gift card is a digital version of a traditional gift card, which can be used to make purchases online or in-store, depending on the retailer. They are typically delivered via email or through a retailer’s app, making them an excellent last-minute gift option.
Customizable Value
You decide the amount! Whether it’s a small contribution toward a snorkel trip, DSD or a full Open Water Diver certification, you can tailor the value to fit your budget.
Instant Deliver
Perfect for last-minute gifts! Receive a high-quality digital voucher instantly in your inbox.
Validity Period
The validity period of an e-gift card refers to the duration for which the card can be used before it expires. For many e-gift cards, this period is set at 3 months from the date of purchase or issuance.
Impact of a 3-Month Validity
- Timely Usage: Recipients need to be aware of the expiration date to ensure they use the card in time.
- Planning Purchases: Knowing the expiry can help recipients plan their purchases, especially if they are waiting for sales or looking to buy specific items.
How to Check Validity
To avoid missing out on using an e-gift card before it expires, recipients should:
- Check the Email or App: The expiration date is often included in the email or app notification that accompanies the card.
- Contact Customer Service: If unsure, reach out to the retailer’s customer service for confirmation.
- Set Reminders: Use digital calendars or apps to set reminders a few weeks before the expiration date.
What Happens After Expiration?
Once the validity period of an e-gift card expires, it typically cannot be used for purchases. Some retailers may offer grace periods or re-issuance, but this is not guaranteed.
Best Practices
- Inform the Recipient: When gifting, ensure the recipient is aware of the expiration date.
- Monitor Usage: If you are the recipient, regularly check the balance and plan to use the card before it expires.
Understanding the conditions of your e-gift card can help maximize its value and ensure you make the most out of your gift.
